altered states, dreamscapes and underworlds: new works by ursula xanthe young
We are pleased to present Altered States, Dreamscapes and Underworlds, a solo show featuring new works by Ursula Xanthe Young.
In the first solo exhibition at the new fabric8 Galleries, Young explores themes of other worldliness, altered states of consciousness and the dream sequence while simultaneously expanding her own artistic boundaries via different techniques of color, texture, and medium.
Using her recognizable urban starlets as the subjects of the visual stories, this collection of new works focuses on the natural urge of the human psyche to seek other dimensions -- both natural and forced -- in search of answers to the greater existential questions of the human experience.
Altered States, Dreamscapes and Underworlds will be on exhibit from September 28 through November 3 at fabric8 Galleries, 3318 22nd Street, San Francisco, and open 7 days a week.
The opening reception for Altered States, Dreamscapes and Underworlds will be held on Friday, October 9, from 7-11PM.
Ursula X Young will also be holding SF Open Studios in the garden gallery at fabric8 on the weekend of October 10-11, 11AM-6PM, so be sure to mark your calendars for a visit to see EVERYTHING she has available!

erik otto opening @ beta lounge, berkeley
Join us in Berkeley this Thursday, May 21, from 7:30-10PM for the opening of "Works", featuring artwork and installation by Erik Otto at the new wine bar called Beta Lounge, 2129 Durant Avenue near Shattuck. Erik is christening the walls of this lovely spot with a collection of new and recent works for your viewing and buying pleasure.
Come enjoy an impressive selection of wines, beers, sakes, and small plates plus be one of the first to check out Beta Lounge before its official opening on June 6. It's only a couple of blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station, so all you SFers should get adventurous and meet us there!

new daniel fleres
Here's a new one by Daniel Fleres, and an arrow through the heart just about explains it. This horned, eared, bowed, hatted, earringed, camouflaged, and hoofed thing is nothing but lovable. You can take bring it home for only US$ 150.
