october events @ fabric8

We've got a jam-packed month of art and cultural events at fabric8, so here's a quick list of things to do in October. We hope to see you often!

Street Food Fridays @ fabric8, 6-8PM:: We've been hosting some of our favorite food carts in our backyard on Fridays, so we invite you to come and enjoy the delectable delights. In partnership with the famous Creme Brulee Cart and Gobba Gobba Hey, we have munched on goodies from the likes of Soul Cocina, Adobo Hobo, Amuse Bouche, and Toasty Melts. This Friday, October 2, look out for the Pizza Hacker, Creme Brulee Cart, and more.

Opening Reception for Altered States, Dreamscapes and Underworlds: New Works by Ursula Xanthe Young @ fabric8, Friday October 9, 7-11PM:: Come celebrate the first solo exhibition at the new fabric8 Galleries with the ever-prolific Ursula X Young as she explores themes of other worldliness, altered states of consciousness and the dream sequence while simultaneously expanding her own artistic boundaries via different techniques of color, texture, and medium. Prepare to be wowed.

Open Studios with Ursula Xanthe Young @ fabric8, Friday and Saturday October 10-11, 11AM-6PM:: In addition to her solo show, Ursula X Young will be selling all of her available artwork in our second annual garden gallery exhibition. Don't miss it!

Globetrotting Fun with Steven Smith @ fabric8, Friday October 16, 6-10PM:: View and purchase figure skater Steven Smith's colorful paintings and wearable art at this one-night-only event.

LitCrawl with PAWA & Arkipelago Bookstore @ fabric8, Saturday October 17, 8:30-9:30PM:: As part of LitQuake's annual Mission arts crawl PAWA (Phillipine American Writers and Author) presents Of History & Myths — Writings from Philippine-American Authors with Karen Llagas, Luis H. Francia, Aimee Suzara, Rona Fernandez, Jenesha “Jinky” de Rivera, Eileen Tabios, and Benito M. Vergara, Jr.

SFUSD Art Supply Drive with the Creme Brulee Cart @ fabric8, Sunday October 18, 1-3PM:: Famous street food vendor the Creme Brulee Cart doing his part to save art in schools via creme brulee! Donate art supplies for SF public schools for a free creme brulee or buy one, and all sales go to the same cause. In addition 10% of all fabric8 sales will also be donated.

Open Studios with Brian Barneclo @ 1067 Market Street, Friday and Saturday October 24-25, 11AM-6PM:: Visit muralist, painter, and illustrator Brian Barneclo in his SOMA studio and get your very own piece of San Francisco magic.

We've got a three fun events coming up in the next two weeks involving the visual, musical, and literary arts so get out your party calendar and write in these dates::Open Studios with Ursula Young @ fabric8, October 18-19, 11AM-6PM: Explore recent paintings and illustrations by Ursula Young, meet the artist, and enjoy our backyard!

Summer Joint @ Jelly's, Monday October 13, 12PM-6PM: Celebrate the only (un)official Indian Summer holiday -- Columbus Day (ironic, isn't it?) -- with sun, fun, the Bay, and top SF DJs Similak Chyld, Toph, J-Boogie, and Sake-1 plus New York's one and only Nickodemus (Turntables on the Hudson). Brought to you by Red Wine, fabric8, FTC, OM Records, and Local 1200. Only $5!
