dyno

Dyno is the latest newcomer to the fabric8 art gallery. A Vallejo-based artist and designer, he personifies (or animalifies?) himself as a cute, multi-colored dinosaur that finds itself in various situations. "Hard Work Can Never Be Cloned" and "The Wonder Is Still Out There" are both 8in. x 8in. pieces done with acrylic and ink. The top one is already sold but you can still get "Wonder" for US$ 90 by emailing us.

new from leecifer

Painter and custom toy guru Leecifer came by with these new 8x8s recently -- they're fun! We're digging the color palette and subject matter on "Moon and Stars" and "Mo and Bee". Done with acrylic on canvas, they're a nice deal at US$ 150 each. Email us for more info.

leon loucheur

Leon Loucheur translates to "cross-eyed lion" in French, so it is quite fortunate that he grew up in Southern California and not the South of France. He attended Humboldt State University, where he graduated with a degree in Social Science and a case of careeraphobia. He spent the next ten years tending bar and making art of various kinds. He currently resides in San Francisco with his wife and daughter and spends much of his time painting murals like the ones in Pesce and Beretta.

Loucheur recently dropped off these two 8in. x 8in. paintings, done in acryic and collage and offering a nice combination of street art, traditional rendering, and fun. They're priced at US$ 150 each. Email us for more info.

small works for great minds opening tonight

Don't forget to check out Romanowski's solo show "Small Works for Great Minds", opening tonight at fabric8 from 5-9PM and showing through December 21.

The modern Renaissance man has succeeded again in creating an exquisite collection of found object assemblages featuring color studies, chrome, some political/economic references, and even rusted plastic! A must-see.

landmark poster by sirron norris

Anyone who has admired the many murals in San Francisco has also admired Sirron Norris' work. With about a dozen public commissions around town, he has certainly helped to make the city a more colorful place. He also keeps fabric8 supplied with a collection of small affordable pieces and t-shrts depicting the city and of course his lovable bears (now with arms!).

He recently delivered his latest masterpiece for the masses, a full-color poster for only US$ 20(!). It measures 18in. x 24in. and is very easy to frame but you can also get a framed, signed copy here for US$ 75. Run, don't walk for yours!

nate1 muni paintings

Our good buddy Nate1 (New Skool/MPC) has been busting his painting chops on canvas lately, and we really dig his pixelated paintings of SF scenes so asked him to bring some by.

Above is the remaining Muni piece; the other sold only a few hours after it arrived. The price is nice at US$ 160 for a 12in. x 12in. original, so email us to purchase.

heavy hitterz artists

Thanks to James Garcia and Heavy Hitterz we have become familiar with quite a few talented artists from the Bay Area and beyond. We recently received these three from Sean Chapman, Jesse Hernandez, and Munk One.

"Tosca" by Sean Chapman, digital illustration on panel, 36in. x 12in., US$ 300. This print was one of the most sought-after works at the first Heavy Hitterz show.
"Quetzalcoatl" by Jesse Hernandez, acrylic paint and marker on canvas, 10in. x 8in., US$ 400. Jesse rocked it at our Carnival party so we're happy to have another piece by the talented painter, custom toy maker, and animator of "The Nut Shack".
"She Lives" by Munk One acrylic and spray paint on canvas, 14in. x 11in., US$ 425. Munk One is an LA-based artist and illustrator who works with the likes of Upper Playground and Tribal Gear.

upcoming fabric8 events

Don't forget about our Rated G hip hop party for kids on Sunday! It should be tons of fun ... and we also get to celebrate the fact that a little over 40 years ago African-Americans could hardly vote and now one is our future President! Go America!

Here are two more fabric8-related events, both happening on Saturday, November 22.
Small Works for Great Minds by Romanowski Opening @ fabric8, November 22, 5-9PM: An all-new collection of works by Romanowski will feature his signature found object assemblages on a smaller scale, offering the same sense of style, humor, and design. Small Works for Great Minds completes a remarkable year for Romanowski, during which he has had three solo shows, including a 10-Year Retrospective, as well as a three-man show at Upper Playground.

Romanowski is a Swiss-born artist, musician, and DJ who has made San Francisco his home since 1988. His keen sense of style and extraordinary talent for vintage shopping has made him one of the most sought-after DJs and collectibles hustlers this side of Zurich. His artwork includes top-notch spray stencil pieces and shadow box installations that are coveted by music and design aficionados around the world.

Small Works for Great Minds will be on display until December 21.
Bindlestiff Fundraiser and Tulay Art Show @ I-Hotel Manilatown Center, 868 Kearny Street SF, November 22, 6-10PM: Bindlestiff Studio and the Manilatown Heritage Foundation present the 2nd Annual Bindleball celebrating Filipino art and community. Entertainment includes DJs, dancers, and vendors.

It is also the Opening for "Tulay", a Filipino and Filipino-American art exhibit curated by James Garcia (Heavy Hitterz) and featuring the likes of GEM, gaNyan, Stuter, and Peabe.
